Drenched at Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center

A bucket list garden for me, and for any native plant enthusiast, is the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center in Austin, Texas. The Center’s mission is to inspire the conservation of native plants, and with over 900 plants native to Texas (many of which are native to North Carolina as well) on display in the natural areas and gardens, it is easy to get inspired.

From wildflower.org:

The Center is making a difference for the health of the planet through its research, demonstration projects, education programs and the development of national-scale programs to promote sustainable landscapes.

The good news is that it is a superb and wonderful garden. There’s also a wonderful gift shop there, which we got to know better than we might have because downpours started just after we arrived (the not so good part). But when the rain slowed to a drizzle, we got out for long enough to snap a few photos.

I look forward to returning some day when the weather is nicer and more conducive to wandering and lingering.
