Plants of the Carolinas from Achillea to Yucca
…for the moment. Soon to be Achillea to Zenobia, or Acer to Zizia.
All the plants in my Folium grow in the Carolinas, but not all are native. There are weeds and invasives here too, and a few common garden plants. If you click a continent tab you can see all the plants in my list that originate from there.
Click on a plant name to see that plant’s facts and photos. Also, there’s a Photos tab on each plant page which will display more views of the plant at different times of year and / or in different environments. The tabs are stacked if you’re on mobile and easy to miss.
I use Alan Weakley’s Flora of the Southern and Mid-Atlantic States to identify plants and label them with their scientific name. I take care with this and check and double-check before I post, but it’s not too hard to make a mistake. If you find one, please comment on the post where you see it, or send me a note. Common names come from a variety of sources. Any time I hear a new one, I add it.
Folium, noun: 1) a leaf; 2) a petal; 3) a sheet or leaf of paper; 4) (figuratively) trifle, thing of no consequence.
